Out of ideas in standard?

TuneLab Tuner is for guitarists who have run out of ideas in standard tuning, or never wanted to live there in the first place. Tune up accurately, then head into the Lab to build a tuning, push it in a new direction and save the ones worth writing with.

The Lab

A note wheel for every string, so you can build any tuning by hand. Then mutate it with one tap: Lower, Raise, Darker, Brighter, Open up or Drone.

TuneDNA

Every tuning scored 0 to 100 on seven traits: Resonance, Consonance, Tension, Openness, Dissonance, Dark and Melodic. Plus a live personality name that changes as you edit.

Explore

30 curated tunings across genres: metal, emo and midwest emo, shoegaze, folk and open tunings, DADGAD and more. Open any of them in the Lab and mutate it.

Tuner

An accurate live chromatic tuner for 6-string, 7-string and 8-string guitar. Plus a little bass!

Fretboard

A fretboard that redraws scales and chords for whatever tuning you're in.

What devices does it run on?

iPhone, on iOS 17 or later.

How does the beta work?

The beta runs on Apple's TestFlight and is capped at 500 testers, first come first served. Beta testers get Pro features free for testing during the beta. Feedback goes through TestFlight's built-in feedback (take a screenshot, then share).

Will it cost anything?

TuneLab Tuner is a free download with a free tier, plus an optional TuneLab Pro upgrade. Final pricing will be confirmed at launch.

Which guitars does the tuner support?

6-string, 7-string and 8-string guitar. Bass gets 4 presets in Pro.

Who makes it?

HY Design, the independent studio of designer and developer Alex Hylton. TuneLab Tuner is its first app.
